Care & Maintenance Instructions
Scarecrow horticultural textiles are made from High Density Polyethylene or Polypropylene & combine Ultra Violet (UV) stabilisers & colour additives.
All fabrics must be installed firm & tight so as to prevent sagging & wind flap.
Slack & loose installation will result in a mechanical breakdown & premature failure. This does not constitute UV degradation or breakdown & is not covered by the warranty. Periodic checking & maintenance of the installation is essential to ensure adequate tension.
Keep metal clasps & parts away from the fabrics as far as possible. Rust & heat build up in the metal can potentially damage the fabrics. Wherever possible, tape or cover the metal parts closest to the fabrics. Avoid friction on the fabric's surface.
Most Scarecrow horticultural fabrics are generally chemically inert. However, chemicals that may contain bleach, or other agricultural chemicals containing Sulphur &/or other Halogens (Chlorine, Bromine) must not contact the fabrics, directly or indirectly. These chemicals may attack the UV stabilisers within the fabric leading to UV breakdown, thereby reducing the life of the products & rendering the warranty void.
Some examples of chemicals that may cause chemical breakdown of the UV stabilisers are pesticides, metal oxides & metal salts, all halogens & chemical compounds containing halogens or sulphur in all of their oxidation states. Also avoid exposure to any petrochemical or petroleum based product.
Dirty fabrics may be cleaned using mild dish washing liquid with the use of a low pressure water hose & a soft scrubbing brush. High pressure water blasting is not recommended as this may damage dimensional stability & tensile strength of the fabric.
Scarecrow fabric warranties do not cover damage or loss caused by incorrect application, incorrect installation, nor acts of God such as storms, hailstorms, earthquakes, nor mechanical damage done by fire, lightning, animals, birds, or pests.
Scarecrow fabrics should be stored in a cool dry place in a protective bag or bale & away from vermin, rats, & mice.
